DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES:
Evaluation includes completing a physical, medical, educational, family and social history
The individual's intellectual, perceptual, emotional, and educational strengths and weaknesses are assessed with appropriate diagnostic instruments as needed
A report of the complete findings will be formulated with recommendations for services and/or referrals to allied professionals
EDUCATIONAL THERAPY AND REMEDIATION:
An individualized teaching plan is designed and implemented to meet the specific needs of the individual
One-on-one training in auditory and visual perceptual skills and academic instruction in reading, writing, spelling, arithmetic, study skills and listening comprehension utilize multisensory methods and materials that are available
Each educational therapy session is designed to improve the individual's skills and to increase the motivation, self-confidence and self-image
Behavior modification techniques are utilized to reduce inappropriate actions of students who experience difficulty monitoring their behavior
Formal evaluations of a student's progress are made periodically
School visitations are made upon request
Enrichment programs are available on request.
ACADEMIC TUTORING:
Individualized instruction is provided in the academic subjects in which the student is not experiencing success
A personalized teaching plan is designed for each student based on their particular needs
Remediation is given by certified teachers who have classroom and clinic experience in teaching basic academic skills
Reading, mathematics, writing and vocabulary study exercises are offered for preparation for PSAT, SAT, ACT and other tests used for entry into military and civilian occupationsSKILLS DEVELOPMENT FOR SUCCESSFUL TEST TAKING:
Standardized testing skills, practical testing skills and strategies for successful test taking are presented Coping and relaxation techniques designed to alleviate anxiety generated by test taking are taught Reading, mathematics, writing and vocabulary, study exercises are offered for preparation for PSAT, SAT, ACT and other tests used for entry into military and civilian occupations
ADULT ACADEMIC SKILL DEVELOPMENT:
A review of the basic educational skills needed for success in home or on-the-job reading, writing and computational tasks is offered Skimming and scanning techniques are presented to augment reading rate Reading comprehension strategies for improved recall are taught Spelling, writing, and math computation lessons are personalized to meet the individual's special employment needs
CONSULTING SERVICES FOR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS:
Public and private schools may avail themselves of assistance in the planning of reading programs Specialists are available to aid school personnel in classroom grouping and organization assistance with group workshops and the development of materials may be arranged referrals for testing services are accepted from public and private schools
FEES
An evaluation is required before a student can begin a tutoring program. Fees cover the evaluation and written report of the test results. The full evaluation requires 5 to 6 hours and is done in two separate sessions.
- Grades K ~ 5 $700
- Grades 6 ~ 12 $800
- Partial evaluation* $100/hour
- Individual tutoring $35/50" session
*When copies of results of previous evaluations are available, a partial evaluation may be all that is needed to provide information necessary to develop the teaching plan.
Fees for evaluation of adults and college students depend on the purpose of the evaluation and the time it takes to complete it.
Lessons during the school year are scheduled Monday through Thursday between the hour of 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
