My Approach to Therapy

“In working with clients I primarily work from a cognitive behavioral position. First I help the client define what they want to change. Once that is made clear, we then together examine any negative, irrational, and distorted thinking patterns and look for ways these patterns can be modified to become more positive and healthy. I expect a client to actively participate by doing homework between sessions to keep the focus on continued positive change.I enjoy working with clients engaged in significant life transitions such as career change, divorce, death of a significant other. My approach to therapy is to provide an understanding of how mind and body work together in order to develop a balanced life. I work with the client by providing a positive, nonjudgmental environment to help the client achieve their goals. My interest in working with individuals going through infertility therapy or adoption comes from my own experience with infertility therapy and adoption.”
